2024 NPGA Annual Convention Set for January 23 in Minot, ND
BISMARCK, ND – The Northern Pulse Growers Association (NPGA) will host their annual Convention January 23 at the Sleep Inn & Suites in Minot, ND. This event is a premier gathering place for industry representatives and producers of dry peas, lentils, chickpeas, and fava beans.
“This event is open to everyone, from seasoned dry pea, chickpea & lentil growers to those looking for more information on how to add them into crop rotations,” said Executive Director Shannon Berndt. “We also have a variety of industry representatives in attendance that will be a valuable resource for producers.”
The NPGA will host a research social at the Sleep Inn & Suites from 5-7pm on January 22 to welcome attendees to Minot, and to connect producers with pulse researchers. Heavy appetizers & refreshments will be served, as well as a complimentary beer tasting with Atypical Brewery & Barrelworks of Minot.
The NPGA Convention officially begins at 8 A.M. Monday, January 23 with breakfast and business followed by Dr. Joe Outlaw, Economist & Professor at Texas A&M University, discussing agriculture policy and the upcoming farm bill. Jacob L. Shapiro, Partner & Director of Geopolitical Analysis at Cognitive Investments, will follow with a riveting discussion on geopolitics and the future of U.S. agriculture. The USA Dry Pea & Lentil Council will provide a “lunch-and-learn” session to discuss their current projects & initiatives. The afternoon sessions include an in-depth presentation on the market outlook for U.S. pulses from Chuck Penner, founder of LeftField Commodities, and a look into the innovation space for pulses with Nicole Atchison of Puris.
